Maha Ali Kazmi set to release her second single Jana Nahi on Eid ul Fitr

Popular musician Maha Ali Kazmi, who first made her debut with ‘Nazar’ in 2013, introduces her latest single ‘Jana Nahi’, releasing nationwide on audio and video on Eid-ul-Fitr 2014.

‘Jana Nahi’ portrays love and parting; a bitter end to what could have been beautiful and a harmonious union of hearts; a song in the remembrance of love found, love lost; something that turns the fate around, that leaves a trail of memories, some bitter, some sweet, along the path of dreams of yesterday and yonder, where its video represents a girl in pursuit of love.

The concept behind the video is derived from the feeling one gets while awakening from a very pleasant dream. For a few seconds, you are disconnected from the harsh realities of life; and then it dawns upon you that it was just a dream.

Born in Karachi and a self-taught artist, Maha started writing songs at the age of 16 following which she graduated in Finance & Macroeconomics/Management from Monash University, Melbourne – Australia. In 2013, Maha was selected as the backup vocalist for Cornetto Music Icon where she performed alongside artists such as Ali Azmat, Strings and Alamgir to name a few.

With vast musical influences that include Nancy Sinatra, Janis Joplin, John Lennon toRolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel and The Smiths name a few, Maha latest single ‘Jana Nahi‘ has been produced by the legendary Shahi Hasan of Vital Signs and features ace-guitarist Asad Ahmed of Awaz and Coke Studio fame. Written and composed by Maha Ali Kazmi, the music video for Jana Nahi has been directed by film-maker and photographer Aania Shah with wardrobe by Adnan Pardesy, hair & make-up by N-Pro and features Usman Malkani as the Director of Photography.

On the launch of Jana Nahi, Maha has said, “This is a special occasion for me. Even though I started writing songs as young as 16 years old, this was my first Urdu song which I composed and wrote myself. I never thought I’d ever pull it off however with support from family and friends this was possible. Jana Nahi is about love and parting; a bitter end to what could have been beautiful and a harmonious union of hearts; a song in the remembrance of love found, love lost; something that turns the fate around, that leaves a trail of memories, some bitter, some sweet, along the path of dreams of yesterday and yonder.”

The Eid UL fitr is being celebrated on the 1^st of the shawal. Eid is a gift of ALLAH to the ones who have fasted  the whole month. Eid is a day full of happiness and joy. Everyone celebrates it to the fullest. Many of us don’t even  know the meaning of Eid ul fitr: it actually means to break the fast. This Eid is celebrated after the end of Ramadan. This is the day to thank Allah for all the blessings  he has  given to us.

The Eid start with the Eid prayers and after the prayers everyone greet each other with love. Poor and needy also feed this day. The Eid celebrations last for three days and everyone celebrates it with their own family traditions and culture.

Eid is incomplete without Chand raat. It is the night when all the family and friends go out and do last minute shopping for the Eid. Many men take their women for Mehndi and bangles. Restaurants and malls are filled with people.

The Eid day starts off when men come back home after Eid Namaz, they are served with some  special dessert known as  “Sawayen”, it is a very traditional dessert, everyone eats it and enjoys. Like other festive occasion Eid is also celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm. Everyone at home gets up early and gets ready for the Eid prayers.  There is a tradition of wearing Shalwar Kameez, which looks really good. All the young girls and women dress up properly, which gives a very good feeling.

Eid is a day when everyone is happy, it is a gift of Allah to the Muslims. Eid is the time to be spent with family and friends. Eid is the best time when kids go out and get things of their own choice, in the small cities Eid Mela is very common.

Eid is perfect when you have special dresses and other things too. For men and woman in our society, occasions like Eid are celebrated with colors. Girls and the women wear bangles and put Mehndi which shows how much you are excited.

Eid celebration is incomplete without Eidi, it is a gift one gets from the elder family member. Eidi is given in cash. The best thing Eidi is that the cash is given in new notes, the fresh notes smells amazing. In some family there is a trend that if you are not properly dressed up you will not get eidi. The feeling of getting Eidi is amazing, can’t be described in words.

In the morning and evening guests also starts coming just to meet  and spend time with you. They bring something sweet with them such as cake or  Mitahi. It is a tradition to take something on Eid when you go to someone place.

Eid is also incomplete without food. Food is the best way to express your emotions and loves to others. Pakistani society loves to eat, Eid is the time to cook the best food. There are many dishes  which are cooked at every home such as Biryani. It has become on the International Cuisine and it is the must Eid dish.  Usually what happens ON  Eid is that the family gets together at the family house and then they have food together.

The very common trend is that special dishes are made for lunch such as Haleem, Nehari, Biryani, salads, chicken karahi,  and mutton roast for lunch. For the evening barbecue is arranged. All the females are free and males are making it for everyone. This is the time when the family gets together and spent quality time with each other.  After this all cousins go out for ice cream or some dessert.

Eid is the only day when the family meets and spent more time together. Eid unites each other and you can only enjoy Eid when you are spending  it with your family and friends. Eid is the time when we must also be given to the needy, make sure you  get clothes  and things for your servants too so  that they can enjoy as much as you do.

Chaand Raat Mubarak

Chaand Raat is a cheerful night for Muslims. Ramadan is a holly and blessed month it is a month of rejoice, scarifies and practice to hold patience. At the end of Ramadan Muslims has blessed with the happy event of Eid. The night before the Eid day called the Chaand Raat, the night of great significance for people. This night the Muslims celebrate their fulfillment of the religious obligation.

There are old and new trends of celebrating Chand Raat. Technology and media has been influencing these religious celebrations all around the globe. Chaand Raat is a time of festivity when people gather in open areas and roofs at the last day of Ramadan to find the new moon, new moon signals the arrival of the Islamic month of Shawwal and the 1st day called the day of Eid. When the moon is sighted, people wish each other greetings of Eid. Women and girls get busy for the preparation of the very day celebrations.

Chand Raat in Pakistan:

Being a Muslim country Pakistan celebrates all the religious events with full pomp and show. In Pakistan Chaand Raat is highly significant for its rejoice and taste of celebration. All Pakistan gets engage for Eid festivities from the Chand Raat. People great each other many perform shukar nawafil and made prayers for peace and prosperity for their country and for their own self.

Old trends of Chaand Raat Celebrations:

A decade back when media was not much influential in human life, the chaand raat celebrations had different taste. The celebrations were mainly associated with the women and the kids only. The girls get engaged to decorate their houses and arrange the clothes of very day. The male members of the family have only played the role to accommodate the ladies at their home.

Girls get engaged to decorate their hands with Mhendi and buy matching bangles. Mother’s activities were mainly related to the kitchen for making desserts for the next day. The girls send gifts that were mainly comprise on Bangles and Mehndi to their friends with sweets and greeting cards.

As we observe progress in every field, the change is also found in religious celebrations. Because of media, the celebrations adopt the marketing trends and advertisement of the celebrations contributes to achieve the marketing interests. Media highlights the festivities of the event and encourages people to make it dramatic.

There are full- time celebrations for Chaand Raat on different television channels. Shopping malls give different packages for Chaand Raat. Previously people like to complete their shopping before the Chaand Raat and just go markets only to see the festivities and for Menhdi. Now the people like to shop for Eid at Chaand Raat.

Chaand Raat Shopping:

With the changing trends the trend to shop on Chaand Raat is promoting by media. People take great interest in visiting malls and markets till midnight of Chaand Raat. City streets give festive looks, and brightly decorated malls and markets remain open late into the night to facilitate the customers. At malls and markets the excitement and enthusiasm on the faces of people is prominent.

Mehndi and Chorian:

Girls take great interest in buying bangles and decorating their hands with Mehndi. Mehndi artist are found on shopping malls too and increase the festivity of Chaand Raat shopping. Different stalls are set-up for the special occasion.

Boys Celebrations:

Previously the Chaand Raat was only the event associated with the girls, but now the boys also take part in this event celebration. They hold their shopping for the very night and enjoy it on Chaand Raat. Like girls they go to the salons and have haircuts and facials.

Media Celebrations:

Media telecast live programs on this festive night, from the studios and from such shopping malls.  Capture the festivities and rejoice of people. Different marketing organizations arrange Chaand Raat parties for people and give them gifts. Such parties provide people the festivities of event and are worthy for their market values.
